By acknowledging the heavy adoption of hearables, as well as the steady convergence of assistive devices (hearing aids) with lifestyle devices (Apple AirPods and similar) this research presents new opportunities in audio based augmented reality.

Rather than forcing the adoption of visual AR devices, we should design subtly enhanced experiences that leverage the wearable audio devices that we’ve already integrated into our lives. This will be achieved through novel combinations of 3D audio and spatial positioning technologies like GPS.
